Cassius Clay wins Olympic Gold

5 September 1960

On This Day in 1960 a Young Cassius Clay just 18 years of age won Olympic Gold. In Just 4 short years he went on to win the heavyweight world title when he shook up the world in 1964 beating Sonny Liston. Shortly after he changed his name to Muhammad Ali.
